Hey I'm Meighan O'Toole. I find the Internet and the sense of community it inspires fascinating. I work with creative individuals and brands to define their voice online using social media.
I have teh Internets to thank for my career.*
Thanks for taking a minute to stop by.
Have a question for me? shoot me an email.
*I used to blog a lot about art over here.

So this video sucks.
Jack in the Box does an unfortunate job and total disservice to women in social media in their latest commercial on — you guessed it — their new social media campaign.
It’s all so meta it makes my head hurt.
A social media intern would totally think a xerox machine is a tanning bed. Totes, she would!!

I want to again extend my sincere gratitude to Housing Works, WORD and Tumblr (particularly Rachel Fershleiser and Jess Bennett) for throwing a completely boss launch party for Feminist Ryan Gosling: The Book, with extra-special thanks to the indomitable Maris Kreizman. A finer group of individuals has never existed, and I’m thankful for your hard work and cheerleading.
I surprised a lot of people by being very tall, then surprised even more people by being Black. I’ve had 35 years to get used to both ideas, but you go ahead and take your time.
I recently did an interview with The Village Voice. There will be a ton of interviews posted in the upcoming weeks; I’ll try to do a link roundup but you can also follow the FRG Twitter for updates.
For most of my life, I’ve felt quite alone in my feminist ideology. Thank you, all of you, for your support, kindness, challenges, conversations and good vibes this year. Thank you for rescuing me from the Island of Misfit Toys by enjoying a little bit of what I do.
YEAH!
Eloquent points in here.

Michigan Rep. Lisa Brown, who was banned from the House floor for saying vagina, on the steps of the capitol, saying vagina. A MASSIVE crowd of 5,000 was at the Vagina Monologues reading.
I thought the same thing, when I saw this add for the first time.

I watched this TED video by Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s COO in December of 2010 when it was first published. At the time I worked at Yahoo! - for a very short time, 6 months to be clear - where it wasn’t yet obvious to me, that the Internet Giant and I were just not a good fit. But before I realized that — I had tons of self-doubt of who I was as a woman and an individual working within that atmosphere. This video alone helped me to see that it was imperative for me to believe in myself. If you have not seen it yet — do yourself a favor & watch it. It changed the way I think about the way I work.
